Holland America Expands 2026 Canada & New England Cruises
Holland America Line will enhance its cruise offerings in Canada and New England, introducing additional itineraries and expanded port calls, including overnights. The season will feature 18 unique journeys, making stops in picturesque locales such as Québec City, Montreal, Portland (Maine), Sydney, Halifax, St. John’s, and even Reykjavik, Iceland.
Beth Bodensteiner, Holland America Line’s chief commercial officer, highlighted the enriching experiences these cruises offer, from the storybook settings and cultural richness of the destinations to the stunning natural beauty of the St. Lawrence River and vibrant autumn foliage. “Adding Iceland to our Canada and New England routes allows our guests to experience the spectacular late sunsets and white nights, especially during the overnight stay in Reykjavik,” said Bodensteiner.
The cruise line plans to operate two ships, Zuiderdam and Volendam, across the region from April through October. Itineraries vary, including roundtrips from Boston and routes between Boston and Canadian cities like Montreal and Québec City. These cruises range from one week to nearly a month, catering to a variety of travel preferences.
A highlight of the season is the “Canada, New England and Iceland” 28-day Legendary Voyage departing June 20, 2026, from Boston. This extensive itinerary on the Volendam allows passengers to delve deeply into the charms and natural wonders of these regions.
Guests on these cruises can anticipate a culinary adventure, sampling local specialties such as Maine lobster, New England berries, Prince Edward Island mussels, and North Atlantic cod. The shore excursions are equally enticing, featuring lobster boils, culinary walks, and cultural performances, ensuring a rich and memorable travel experience.
