Holland America Line has announced a significant re-routing of its 2026 Grand World Voyage cruise to avoid ongoing Houthi rebel attacks in the Red Sea. The revised itinerary for the cruise, which will take place onboard the Volendam, will now include visits to ports in East and Southeast Asia, Central America, and the United States, as well as a crossing of the Panama Canal.

“Given the evolving situation in the region and in consultation with global security experts, Holland America has made the decision to reroute the planned voyage,” the company stated.

The re-routing affects the final 54 days of the voyage, allowing travelers to explore 51 ports in 23 countries and territories across five continents. The cruise is set to depart on May 17, 2026, from Fort Lauderdale.

New destinations added to the itinerary include Phu My (Ho Chi Minh City), Nha Trang, and Halong Bay (Hanoi) in Vietnam; Hong Kong; Kaohsiung and Keelung (Taipei) in Taiwan; six ports in Japan; Kodiak, Sitka, and Ketchikan in Alaska; Seattle, Washington; San Diego; Manzanillo and Puerto Chiapas in Mexico; Acajutla in El Salvador; Fuerte Amador (Panama City) in Panama; and Cartagena in Colombia.

Beth Bodensteiner, chief commercial officer for Holland America Line, noted, “We know immersive experiences in exciting destinations are always a main draw for those choosing a world cruise. The dozen ports we’ve added in Asia will bring that part of the world to life for our guests. From exploring the emerald waters of Halong Bay or snorkeling in Nha Trang to overnight stays in Hong Kong, Nagasaki, and Tokyo, the deep exploration of the region provides guests the opportunity to take in the culture and natural beauty of Asia as part of their world cruise.”

The Grand World Voyage still has availability, with fares starting at $30,354 per person based on double occupancy. Travelers can also book shorter segments ranging from 21 to 55 days, including the newly added ports.

Guests who book the entire Grand World Voyage can enjoy up to $2,000 in onboard credits per person, a 3% pay-in-full discount, a free Wi-Fi Surf package, and other perks. Additionally, travelers who book through Flight Ease will receive a $500 air credit per person and free roundtrip airport transfers to and from Fort Lauderdale airport.
