Travel enthusiasts planning to explore Alaska’s majestic landscapes both by sea and land this summer are in for a treat, as Holland America Line announces significant enhancements to its Alaska cruisetours. These tours are a unique combination of a scenic coastal cruise and an immersive overland tour, culminating in a visit to the iconic Denali National Park.

In preparation for the upcoming summer season, Holland America Line is undertaking renovations at the McKinley Chalet Resort, a sprawling 68-acre hotel property situated at the gateway to Denali National Park. Among the notable upgrades are the addition of balconies to 28 rooms, offering breathtaking views of the Nenana River. These rooms will be reclassified as “Denali Suites,” providing guests with an even more memorable and picturesque stay.

Further elevating the guest experience, Holland America Line is introducing a new “Deluxe” category for 45 non-balcony rooms. These rooms will feature suite-like amenities, including s’mores kits for a taste of the great outdoors, luxurious Pendleton blankets, premium bathrobes, and Keurig coffee machines, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Dan Rough, Holland America Line’s Vice President of Revenue Management, expressed enthusiasm about the upgrades, stating, “Increasing the balcony rooms at McKinley Chalet Resort allows more visitors to enjoy the incredible views, while the new Deluxe category offers an elevated stay at the property.”

Adding to the allure of the Alaska cruisetours, Holland America Line is introducing a new excursion for guests visiting Dawson City, Yukon. The “Klondike Gold Tour” is a fascinating journey into the heart of the region’s gold rush era. Participants will visit the original discovery claim site that sparked the gold rush and explore Dredge No. 4, a historic wooden-hulled sluice dredge that operated on the Yukon River in the early 20th century. A Parks Canada guide will lead the tour, providing valuable insights into the region’s mining history.

Rough highlighted the exclusivity of the experience, noting, “Holland America Line is the only cruise line that showcases the beginning and end of the Klondike trail, from Skagway all the way to the Yukon.”

For those eager to embark on this unparalleled adventure, bookings are still open. The Alaska cruisetours offer itineraries ranging from nine to 18 days, starting with a 3- or 4-day Inside Passage cruise aboard the Koningsdam or Zaandam ships, or a 7-day Glacier Discovery cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam or Noordam. These enhancements promise to make Holland America Line’s Alaska cruisetours an even more enticing and unforgettable experience for travelers seeking the ultimate Alaskan adventure.
