Holland America Line is elevating its Alaska cruise offerings with the introduction of “Glacier Day,” a new feature within its “We Love Alaska” onboard experience set to debut in the 2024 season. This enhancement coincides with the commencement of cruises starting April 27 from Vancouver and May 4 from Seattle, promising guests a deeper connection to Alaska’s natural wonders and cultural heritage.

The new Glacier Day event will spotlight Alaska’s majestic glaciers, incorporating sighting times, scenic commentary, presentations, and informational viewing stations. This special day will also offer unique photo opportunities, Dutch Pea Soup on deck, Glacier Ice cocktails, talks by Glacier Bay National Park Rangers and Huna cultural interpreters, and an open bow for enhanced viewing.

Beth Bodensteiner, chief commercial officer at Holland America Line, emphasized the company’s dedication to delivering authentic regional experiences. “With our Alaska sailings leading the way in authentic programming and localized cuisine, special events like ‘Glacier Day’ enhance our guests’ immersion in all facets of Alaska,” she stated.

Holland America Line’s 2024 Alaska season includes cruises and Cruisetours aboard six of its ships: Eurodam, Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Noordam, Westerdam, and Zaandam. The offerings range from seven-day itineraries to a new 28-day Arctic Circle Solstice Legendary Voyage, featuring 12 Alaska ports and extensive Cruisetours that include visits to Denali National Park and Canada’s Yukon.

In addition to Glacier Day, Holland America is further enhancing its onboard culinary experiences. The Global Fresh Fish program will continue to highlight sustainable Alaska seafood, with dishes specially created by Fresh Fish Ambassador Chef Morimoto. An Alaska Seafood Boil and an Alaska Brunch menu in the Dining Room will showcase local flavors with dishes like Kodiak Steak and Egg Skillet and Home Smoked Gulf of Alaska Cod Benny.

Bartender Sam Ross, 2011 “U.S. Bartender of the Year,” has designed exclusive Alaska-themed cocktails for the cruise line. Moreover, the new “Killer Whale Pale Ale,” developed in collaboration with Pike Brewing and featuring artwork by Native artist Rico Worl, will be available onboard, celebrating local culture and wildlife.

Holland America Line also prioritizes wildlife viewing, with more opportunities than any other cruise line to see Alaska’s native species in their natural habitats. The onboard Wildlife Spotting Guide and expert commentary enhance guests’ chances of seeing these majestic animals.

The “On Deck for a Cause” charitable event will continue, supporting Alaska Geographic in preserving the region’s natural and cultural heritage. Additionally, the Standby Program offers reduced rates for last-minute bookings, making these enriching Alaska experiences more accessible.

This array of new and enhanced experiences underscores Holland America Line’s commitment to offering guests a profoundly engaging and educational journey through Alaska, blending adventure with luxurious comfort and deep cultural appreciation.
