Honeywell and Bombardier Announce $17 Billion Deal
Honeywell has entered into a strategic partnership with Bombardier to supply cutting-edge equipment for both existing and future Bombardier aircraft. The agreement focuses on enhancing avionics, engines, and satellite communications, aiming to drive high-value upgrades for Bombardier’s installed aircraft fleet while laying the groundwork for future aircraft technologies. The partnership is expected to generate $17 billion over its duration, as announced in a press release on December 2, 2024.
Vimal Kapur, Chairman and CEO of Honeywell, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, “This is a tremendous opportunity to co-innovate and advance next-generation technologies, including Anthem avionics and engines.” He further explained that the alliance supports Honeywell’s strategic focus on automation, the future of aviation, and energy transition, which are key megatrends shaping the industry.
Under this collaboration, Honeywell and Bombardier will work together on developing avionics systems tailored to meet specific mission requirements. Additionally, the partnership will prioritize the next-generation HTF7K engine, which aims to improve power, reliability, and maintainability for Bombardier’s aircraft.
One of the standout features of this agreement is the integration of Honeywell’s JetWave X technology, which will provide inflight Wi-Fi services for the Bombardier Global and Challenger families of aircraft. This technology will be available for both new aircraft production and as an aftermarket option, enhancing the connectivity and customer experience for Bombardier aircraft operators.
Moreover, Bombardier will gain access to Honeywell’s full suite of L-Band satellite communications products and antennas, further strengthening the technological capabilities of its aircraft and improving inflight connectivity.
Eric Martel, President and CEO of Bombardier, praised the new partnership, stating, “This new partnership creates unprecedented opportunities for Bombardier. Honeywell’s differentiated technology is the key reason we decided to collaboratively build a bright future with them.”
This collaboration between Honeywell and Bombardier marks a significant step in advancing aircraft technology, providing operators with advanced avionics, reliable engines, and enhanced satellite communication capabilities. It also reinforces both companies’ commitment to the future of aviation, ensuring that operators will benefit from the latest innovations while helping to shape the evolution of the aerospace industry.
The $17 billion partnership underscores the importance of strategic collaborations in the aviation sector, as both companies aim to stay ahead in a competitive and rapidly evolving industry. The developments that will emerge from this partnership are expected to set new standards for performance, reliability, and connectivity in commercial aviation.
