Hong Kong Airlines has recently enhanced its fleet by taking delivery of its first A321-200 aircraft, designated as B-LPR (msn 4315). Previously operated by Vietnam Airlines as VN-A367, the aircraft arrived at Hong Kong International earlier this month, leased from AerCap. It is currently undergoing maintenance checks and is slated to commence revenue operations within the next month.

This A321-200 is a new addition to Hong Kong Airlines’ exclusively Airbus fleet, which also includes plans for further expansion. The airline has secured agreements to lease two additional A320-200 aircraft, expected to arrive soon. This development is part of a broader growth strategy articulated by the airline’s Chairman, Sun Jianfeng. He noted that Hong Kong Airlines anticipates the arrival of eight aircraft this year, spanning the A320, A321, and A330 models, as part of its post-restructuring phase growth plans.

A spokesperson for Hong Kong Airlines confirmed to ch-aviation that the carrier is expecting to integrate a few more A321s into its fleet later this year. These acquisitions are part of the airline’s efforts to expand and modernize its fleet following a successful exit from a restructuring phase, now that it has returned to profitability.

Currently, Hong Kong Airlines operates a fleet of 27 aircraft, which includes twelve A320-200s, five A330-200s, and ten A330-300s. The airline serves 31 airports across ten countries, demonstrating its significant presence in the regional aviation market. The addition of the A321-200 and forthcoming aircraft will further enhance Hong Kong Airlines’ capacity to meet growing travel demand and continue its trajectory of expansion and modernization.
