Hotel workers, industry spar over pace of rehiring

As occupancy climbs from its pandemic trough, many employees and their union leaders accuse the hotel industry of undermining their livelihoods by keeping housekeeping and other services understaffed. An industry spokesman counters that hotels are hiring as the market allows, while the leading hotel trade group projects that more than one in five jobs lost in the slump won’t return.
