In a strategic move to overcome delays in the delivery of its in-house aircraft, Uzbekistan’s emerging carrier, Humo Air, is gearing up for launch with the deployment of two A320-200s leased from Bulgarian ACMI/charter specialist Fly2Sky.

The wet-lease contract, set to kick off this month, will extend through at least March 2024, providing Humo Air with the necessary aircraft to commence its operations. The first aircraft, LZ-MDI (msn 3378), completed its journey from Sofia to Tashkent International on December 12, 2023, as tracked by Flightradar24 ADS-B data. While Fly2Sky has yet to comment on the deployment plans for the second A320, the airline’s commitment to supporting Humo Air’s launch is evident.

Humo Air has ambitious plans to start scheduled flights on domestic routes within Uzbekistan from December 15, 2023. Under new ownership and a revamped structure, the airline is transitioning to operate as a Low-Cost Carrier (LCC) in the domestic regional market. Initially aiming for an in-house fleet of three A320s at launch, Humo Air’s collaboration with Fly2Sky is a pivotal step in achieving this goal.

Fly2Sky, known for its ACMI expertise, currently operates four A320-200s, with two already wet-leased to World Atlantic Airlines and one to United Nigeria Airlines. The airline’s diverse fleet includes an additional parked A321-200.

As Humo Air prepares to make its mark on the Uzbekistan aviation scene, the partnership with Fly2Sky underscores the airline’s adaptability and commitment to providing reliable and efficient services to passengers in the region. Stay tuned for updates as Humo Air takes flight with its leased A320s and establishes itself as a key player in the Central Asian skies.
