HX Expeditions is turning back time with a one-of-a-kind offering to celebrate its 130th anniversary — the “1896 Cabin,” a meticulously recreated 19th-century expedition stateroom designed to immerse guests in the golden age of exploration.

Crafted by AROS Marine, the cabin will debut aboard MS Fridtjof Nansen on January 29, 2026, and remain available throughout the year. Outfitted with handcrafted period furnishings, authentic scents, and historical details, the cabin provides a fully immersive experience. Guests can book a one-night stay per voyage for €450 (single or double occupancy), with half of the proceeds donated to the HX Foundation in support of the company’s £130,000 anniversary fundraising campaign.

“The 1896 Cabin is a chance for our guests to not just see history but to live and sleep in it,” said Gebhard Rainer, CEO of HX. “As we celebrate 130 years of pioneering journeys, we wanted to create an experience that connects our guests to our heritage while supporting future exploration and conservation through the HX Foundation.”

As part of the anniversary celebrations, HX will also transport a barrel of fortified Zweigelt wine from Regele Winery in Austria across the entire fleet — from pole to pole — aboard multiple ships. The voyage will culminate in May 2027 when the wine is bottled and released as a limited-edition anniversary vintage.

With this innovative blend of history, philanthropy, and adventure, HX Expeditions invites guests to step back into 1896 and experience the spirit of exploration that has defined the company for over a century.
