Hyatt Expands in New Orleans: Introducing Two New Hotels to Enhance Local Tourism
Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) announced the addition of two notable properties in New Orleans to its portfolio: Maison Métier (formerly Maison de la Luz) and The Barnett (formerly Ace Hotel New Orleans). These hotels are set to join Hyatt’s Independent Collection of brands and will participate in the World of Hyatt loyalty program within the year. Owned by The Domain Companies and managed by HRI Hospitality, these properties are poised to offer unique and enriching experiences to travelers.
Hyatt’s Independent Collection brands are renowned for their distinctiveness, offering everything from historic hotels to vibrant neighborhood spots and immersive retreats. Each property offers unique experiences that cater to the modern traveler’s desire for authenticity and local flavor.
Mike Waddell, Hyatt’s Senior Vice President of Global Franchise Operations, emphasized the strategic growth in the leisure and lifestyle segment. “This expansion in New Orleans is a testament to our commitment to growing purposefully in key destinations,” he said. Maison Métier and The Barnett will amplify the city’s cultural vibrancy, aligning with Hyatt’s mission to provide discovery and joy through various avenues like food, art, and music.
Maison Métier: Slated to join The Unbound Collection by Hyatt in 2024, Maison Métier is located in a beautifully preserved 1908 building. Reflecting Parisian luxury, the hotel features 67 opulent rooms and suites with intricate designs and contemporary touches. The in-house bar, formerly Bar Marilou, continues its collaboration with Quixotic Projects, offering a blend of culinary and cocktail experiences.
The Barnett: Also expected to join the JdV by Hyatt brand in 2024, The Barnett respects its heritage as a former furniture store by integrating Art Deco and French Modernism into its design. Located in the bustling Warehouse District, the hotel offers an authentic New Orleans experience with a focus on music, including a live music venue. The property’s culinary venues, like the Josephine Estelle and rooftop bar Alto, are set to unveil new identities this fall, enhancing the guest experience.
Matt Schwartz, CEO of The Domain Companies, highlighted the benefits of the partnership with Hyatt. “Our collaboration allows guests to enjoy some of the most unique and vibrant properties in New Orleans, backed by a world-class hospitality brand,” he stated.
Michael Coolidge of HRI Hospitality expressed pride in steering these iconic properties into their next phase, emphasizing the commitment to creating memorable guest experiences and strengthening community ties.
Once incorporated into their respective brands, these hotels will offer World of Hyatt members stylish accommodations and the ability to earn points toward various rewards, enhancing their travel experience in New Orleans.
