Iberostar Expands With New Hotels in Mexico and Zanzibar

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has announced strong results for the first nine months of 2025, reporting an 8 percent increase in average daily rate (ADR) and a 10 percent rise in overall sales compared to the same period in 2024. The company attributes this success to its focus on quality, sustainable growth, and customer experience, reinforcing its position as a global leader in hospitality.
Alongside its solid financial performance, Iberostar confirmed two major expansion projects: a new five-star resort in Mexico, opening later this year, and the brand’s first hotel in Zanzibar, scheduled to debut in 2026.
“These results reaffirm the sustained growth trajectory of recent years and demonstrate our strong global positioning,” said Phil McAveety, CEO of Iberostar Hotels & Resorts. “They also encourage us to continue pursuing a long-term vision centered on quality, exceptional guest experiences, and a selective expansion strategy backed by significant investment in our portfolio.”
In 2025, Iberostar added five new international properties to its portfolio: JOIA Aruba by Iberostar (Aruba), Iberostar Waves Berkeley Shore (Miami), Iberostar Waves Miami Beach (Miami), Iberostar Selection La Habana (Cuba), and Iberostar Selection Es Trenc (Mallorca, Spain).
Later this year, the company will debut Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancún, located 12 kilometers from Puerto Morelos in Quintana Roo. The five-star beachfront resort, part of the brand’s Selection segment, will feature 440 rooms, a variety of restaurants, and extensive leisure and entertainment options designed to capture the essence of the Mexican Caribbean.
Looking ahead to 2026, Iberostar will open its first property in Zanzibar, a five-star, 360-room resort situated on Muyuni Beach. The hotel will operate under the Selection brand and promises a luxurious beachfront experience inspired by the island’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
In addition to new openings, Iberostar has continued modernizing its existing portfolio through a series of renovations completed in 2025. These include upgrades at Iberostar Selection Fuerteventura Palace and Iberostar Waves Gaviotas Park in Fuerteventura, Iberostar Selection Albufera Resort in Mallorca, and Iberostar Selection Creta Marine in Greece.
With these developments, Iberostar continues to strengthen its global footprint, focusing on delivering sustainable luxury experiences and setting new benchmarks for excellence in international hospitality.
