Iberostar Opens New Luxury Resort in Mexico’s Riviera Maya

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of the five-star, all-inclusive Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancun, located in Mexico’s Riviera Maya near the fishing village of Puerto Morelos, just 20 minutes from Cancun International Airport.
The new beachfront resort features 444 spacious suites, each equipped with a jacuzzi. Accommodation options include family suites, swim-up rooms with direct pool access, and oceanfront suites offering panoramic Caribbean views.
Guests can enjoy a variety of dining experiences, including an international buffet, a wood-fired pizzeria, and four à la carte restaurants—L’Oliveto (Italian), Nopal (Mexican), a Caribbean seafood restaurant, and Martinete (Spanish). The property also offers six bars, including three swim-up options and the signature Star Café.
As part of the Iberostar Selection brand, the resort caters to both couples and families, providing easy access to natural attractions such as the Great Mayan Reef and the Route of the Cenotes.
Phil McAveety, CEO of Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, said, “We are proud to strengthen Iberostar’s presence in Mexico, a key destination in our international growth strategy. This opening reflects our dedication to excellence and creating memorable experiences for our guests.” He added that the project also underscores Iberostar’s commitment to responsible tourism and local talent development.
This marks Iberostar’s 12th property in Mexico, expanding its portfolio to 4,400 rooms and employing more than 5,800 staff across the country. The new resort adds nearly 650 new jobs and operates under the company’s Wave of Change sustainability initiative—eliminating single-use plastics, sourcing seafood responsibly, and maintaining purified water stations to support its zero-waste-to-landfill goal.
