IHG Hotels & Resorts announced it would celebrate National Dog Day on August 26 by easing the stress of traveling with dogs this summer at several of its Staybridge Suites properties.

As part of the National Dog Day festivities, Staybridge Suites is offering a ‘Paw-Parent Getaway’ for stays booked in the United States through September 30. At participating properties, travelers will receive 1,000 bonus IHG One Rewards points per night and 20 percent off their pet fee.

In addition, IHG revealed that select properties would host a unique ‘Dog Days of Summer’ happy hour experience, complete with toys, treats, dog-friendly ice cream and a malt-barley beer concoction made just for dogs.

The Dog Days of Summer events occur every Wednesday throughout August from 5:30 to 7 p.m. local time. Visitors can take advantage of the part at Staybridge Suites locations in Greenville and Florence, South Carolina; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Great Falls, Montana; Rapid City, South Dakota; and Sioux City, Iowa.

IHG also revealed that a recent survey found that dogs are the most popular pet in the United States, with over 86 million households counting a four-legged companion as part of their family. However, 26 percent of pet owners said the biggest challenge is finding suitable care for their furry friends when traveling.

Earlier this summer, IHG announced the launch of a new mobile product feature, dubbed IHG Wi-Fi Auto Connect. The new internet feature will automatically connect IHG One Rewards members to Wi-Fi upon arrival at more than 5,000 of the company’s hotels around the world. The feature is available through the IHG One Rewards mobile app for iOS and Android users.
