IndiGo expands codeshare network in Europe
Indian low-cost airline IndiGo has announced a significant expansion of its codeshare connections between Europe and India.
A few days ago, IndiGo increased the capacity it offers on its Istanbul route through the deployment of Boeing 777 aircraft wet-leased from Turkish Airlines. t is now the turn of its codeshare connections.
Destinations in nine additional countries (Malta, Hungary, Belgium, Israel, Ireland, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Greece, and Denmark) will be added to the ones it already commercialized in Portugal, Switzerland, France, Italy, England, and Austria. The number of weekly frequencies more than doubles, from 141 to 335.
All these European destinations can be reached from India via Istanbul and in codeshare with Turkish Airlines.
According to IndiGo’s Head of Global Sales, Vinay Malhotra, this move is a response to the strong recovery in international air travel demand this last year, particularly of Europe-bound traffic.
