IndiGo is set to enhance its domestic flight network with the introduction of six new routes in its summer schedule, beginning March 31, 2024. The airline will commence direct flights connecting Ahmedabad with Rajkot and Aurangabad, Bhopal with Lucknow, and Indore with Varanasi. Additionally, new direct routes between Kolkata and Srinagar, as well as Kolkata and Jammu, are scheduled to launch on April 10 and April 21, 2024, respectively. IndiGo will also offer flights from Kolkata to Jammu with a stopover in Srinagar starting April 10, 2024.

These new connections to key cities such as Ahmedabad, Lucknow, and Kolkata are expected to significantly boost mobility and ensure seamless connections to further domestic and international destinations. With the growing preference for air travel and the opening of new airports, there’s a notable increase in domestic travel demand. The Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) predicts that India’s air passenger traffic will soar to 860 million by 2030, highlighting immense prospects for economic expansion.

By introducing these routes, IndiGo aims to facilitate trade, enhance commerce, and create employment opportunities, thereby reinforcing the economic interlinkages between these cities. As a leader in India’s aviation sector, IndiGo is dedicated to improving connectivity and accessibility, reinforcing its status as the airline of choice in the region.

Vinay Malhotra, IndiGo’s Head of Global Sales, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, “With the upcoming vacation season, we are excited to introduce new destinations to our summer schedule, catering to the increased demand for travel. These routes are designed to not only make travel more accessible but also to strengthen economic relationships across states. At IndiGo, we are committed to providing an affordable, punctual, and pleasant travel experience across our extensive network.”
