IndiGo, a major player in Indian aviation, is set to enhance its international footprint by launching a new flight route connecting Hyderabad and Bangkok. Starting from February 26, IndiGo will commence daily nonstop services between Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) and Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). This move marks a significant milestone as Hyderabad-Bangkok becomes the airline’s 14th international destination from HYD.

The service will be operated using the Airbus A320 family aircraft, showcasing IndiGo’s commitment to offering comfortable and efficient travel options. This strategic expansion places IndiGo in direct competition with Thai Airways, which currently operates flights on the Bangkok-Hyderabad route using their Boeing 787-8 aircraft.

IndiGo’s entry into this route is a landmark development, as it becomes the first Indian airline to offer direct flights between Hyderabad and Bangkok. The inauguration of this route is a testament to IndiGo’s rapid growth in international operations, expanding from eight to 14 international destinations served from Hyderabad since February 2023.

Prior to this, IndiGo had already established a strong presence in Bangkok with flights operating from five Indian cities – Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. With the addition of the Hyderabad-Bangkok route, IndiGo will operate a total of 37 weekly flights between India and Bangkok. This expansion underscores the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity in Southeast Asia. Additionally, IndiGo operates 20 weekly flights to Phuket in Thailand, further strengthening its network in the region.

Vinay Malhotra, IndiGo’s Head of Global Sales, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, noting that it aligns with the airline’s vision to boost accessibility across Southeast Asia. He emphasized that the Hyderabad-Bangkok route is more than just an addition to their network – it represents a bridge between two culturally rich destinations. This initiative not only reflects IndiGo’s commitment to expanding its connectivity but also underscores its role in fostering cultural and economic exchanges between India and Thailand.
