Super Air Jet (IU) has completed its AOC certification drive, the Indonesian civil aviation authority (Direktur Jenderal Perhubungan Udara – DJPU) has announced.

An official statement said the nascent carrier started its push in September last year and has now secured three A320-200s.

Lion Air Group’s director for corporate communications, Danang Mandala Prihantoro, has since reiterated that Super Air Jet is not part of Lion Air Group and a separate entity.

The Indonesian company register shows that as of May 2021, Super Air Jet is majority-owned by PT Kabin Kita Top with a 99.8% stake. Kabin Kita Top is a privately held company established in December 2019. Its director is Farian Kirana, CEO of Lion Parcel, with Davin Kirana, its commissioner. Both are sons of Kusnan and Rusdi Kirana, who both founded Lion Air Group in 1999. The remaining 0.1% is owned by Rudy Lumingkewas, who is president director of Lion Air Group, and Achmad Hasan, the group’s trading director.

Indonesia’s Bisnis newspaper said this week that Super Air Jet has been in talks with Avolon, CDB Aviation, and ICBC Financial Leasing over plans to secure up to 30 new aircraft. According to the ch-aviation fleets advanced module, Super Air Jet has secured two leased jets, one from each of ORIX Aviation (which owns 30% of Avolon) and CDB.
