Ingenio Unveils AeroPortal for Modular Cabin Connectivity

Share

Ingenio Aerospace has introduced AeroPortal, a new modular ecosystem designed to streamline aircraft cabin and cockpit connectivity while supporting the industry’s shift toward a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA). The system aims to reduce the cost and complexity of technology upgrades by creating standardised electromechanical connection points throughout the cabin.

AeroPortal enables plug-and-play integration zones that allow operators to add, remove, or replace components such as lighting, displays, speakers, cameras, or third-party devices without repeated rewiring or structural modifications. Ingenio says the design gives interior teams greater flexibility to incorporate new technologies or tailor layouts using its AeroAccessory design service, helping future-proof aircraft against rapid advances in cabin technology.

James Bell, president and CEO of Ingenio Aerospace, said the solution delivers MOSA-driven interoperability and “high-speed, high-power connectivity that is truly interchangeable.” He described AeroPortal as a fully certifiable platform that saves installation time and cost while offering aircraft owners extensive customisation options for enhancing the inflight experience.

Aloft AeroArchitects, an authorised Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) service centre, will perform the first AeroPortal installation. Colby Hall, Aloft’s managing director of emerging technology and innovation, said the system offers unprecedented flexibility as cabin technologies evolve. For instance, switching from USB Type-A to USB Type-C—traditionally requiring engineering changes—can now be completed in minutes without compromising design or safety.

Aloft supports MOSAIC, a next-generation cabin framework built on modularity. Hall noted that AeroPortal’s adaptability allows engineering teams to complete wiring and data planning early, while final functionality decisions can be made later in the programme.

Ingenio’s AeroPuck, a key component of AeroPortal, provides USB PD charging up to 100W, optional PoE, 10 Gb Ethernet capability, and supports accessories up to 30 lb (13.6 kg). It includes a quick-disconnect feature, customisable finishes, and RoHS compliance, further enhancing the versatility of the new ecosystem.
