Iran Aseman Airlines Wins Legal Battle Over Aircraft Ownership

Iran Aseman Airlines has successfully resolved three legal cases in Iran, securing ownership of key aircraft assets that are essential to its fleet renewal plans. According to airline spokesperson Seyyed Mohammad Javad Razavi, the rulings granted the carrier ownership of three Rolls-Royce Tay 650-15 engines for its Fokker 100 aircraft, one CFM56 engine for a Boeing 737, and one unidentified Boeing 737 airframe.
In addition to acquiring these assets, the airline settled a major legal dispute that could have cost it AED 104 million (USD 28.3 million). While Razavi did not provide further details about the cases or the opposing parties, he emphasized that resolving the legal challenges is a critical step in supporting the airline’s strategy for fleet growth and modernization.
Iran Aseman Airlines, based at Tehran Mehrabad Airport, currently operates a diverse but aging fleet. According to ch-aviation data, its active fleet includes five Airbus A320-200s, one Airbus A340-300, two ATR72-200s, two ATR72-500s, three Boeing 737-400s, nine Fokker 100s, and one Falcon 20E. However, only two of its Boeing 737s and two F100s are currently in service.
The legal victories are expected to aid Iran Aseman in revitalizing its operations, particularly amid ongoing challenges related to aircraft maintenance and spare parts procurement due to international sanctions. With ownership rights now clarified, the airline is better positioned to move forward with restoring grounded aircraft and expanding its active fleet.
