ITA Airways to enter Asian market with new Indian and Japanese routes
ITA Airways will continue to expand its intercontinental network by adding destinations between Italy, Asia, and India.
Italy’s state-owned flag carrier aims to expand into the Asian market with new scheduled passenger flights. In its latest network update, released on September 6, 2022, ITA said it will start operations connecting its hub at Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) in Italy and Haneda Airport (HND) in Tokyo in early November 2022. Then, commencing in the first weeks of December, the successor to failed Alitalia aims to launch direct flights between Rome and Maldives (MLE).
The airline also plans to start regular passenger operations to Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in India. The Italian air carrier explained that flights to the new destination will depart from Fiumicino Airport three times per week, every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Meanwhile, return flights will be operated on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
