EGO Airways (E3, Milan Malpensa) launched scheduled operations on March 30, 2021, using a single E190 rather than two as previously planned. I-EGOA (msn 19000165) operated the airline’s first scheduled route – from Catania to Parma – and later during the day, it also touched down at Lamezia Terme and Forli airports. According to the carrier’s online booking engine, its initial network comprises routes from Catania to Parma (4x weekly), Florence Peretola (2x weekly), and Forli (2x weekly). Going forward, EGO plans to open its second base at Forli airport. Starting on May 28, it intends to add its maiden international scheduled flights – to Ibiza and Mykonos – as well as domestic flights to Sardinia (Olbia and Cagliari), Bari, and Brindisi. While EGO Airways initially planned to launch with two E190s, it has so far only taken delivery of one. However, it recently said that a further two units of the type were due to arrive shortly, without going into details. It did not respond to ch-aviation’s request for comment. The carrier has been operating charter flights since December 1, 2020.
