Italy’s Neos replaces B767-300(ER)s with second-hand B787-9s

Neos (NO, Milan Malpensa) has agreed to take over two dry-leased B787-9s from Norwegian (DY, Oslo Gardermoen), which is in the process of trimming its widebody fleet as a part of its transformation strategy, started before the pandemic and accelerated by the current crisis. Airways Magazine has reported, citing internal sources, that Neos will take over LN-LNT (msn 38774) and LN-LNX (msn 38756). Both units are owned by AerCap, the ch-aviation fleets ownership module shows, and have been stored at Oslo Gardermoen since March 16 and March 27, respectively. The aircraft will join four other B787-9s already operated by Neos. Three of them are also dry-leased from AerCap, while one aircraft is owned by ALC Blarney Aircraft and managed by Air Lease Corporation. The two additional B787-9s will replace two B767-300(ER)s retired by Neos in March and August 2020. The carrier also operates seven B737-800s. Following the transfer of the two B787-9s to Neos, Norwegian will continue to operate eleven units of the type (all of which are currently parked). A further three B787-9s are operated by Norwegian Air Sweden (LE, Stockholm Arlanda) and thirteen more by Norwegian UK (DI, London Gatwick). None of them is currently active.
