Jaz Aviation, a prominent business aviation company based in Lagos, has upgraded its fleet by replacing a Legacy 600 with a Legacy 650, according to ch-aviation research. The aircraft being retired, registration 5N-JLA (msn 145516), was an 18.7-year-old Legacy 600 configured to seat up to 13 passengers. It remained in service until April 2, 2024, when it completed a flight from London Stansted to Bremen Hans Koschnick for maintenance. Following additional maintenance in Riga, the aircraft was re-registered as 5N-ONC and ferried to Abuja with a stop in Basel. It is now part of Jet Support Services’ fleet, which includes an EMB-145LR, Hawker 800XP, Hawker 850XP, and Phenom 300.

The new addition to Jaz Aviation’s fleet is a Legacy 650, registration 5N-PPB (msn 14501156). This 12.2-year-old ultra-long-range jet was first activated on January 16, 2025, with a test flight around Basel, Mulhouse, and Freiburg in Switzerland. Just two days later, the aircraft was ferried to Lagos, marking its entry into service with Jaz Aviation. Originally delivered to Empire Aviation, the aircraft was first registered as A6-VAS and later re-registered as A6-SSV. Under Empire Aviation’s ‘MJE’ code, it last operated on May 26, 2024, flying between Dubai World Central and Basel. This Legacy 650 was the final of three United Arab Emirates-registered Legacy 650s in Empire Aviation’s local fleet, which also includes a Legacy 600 and a GVII-G600. Empire Aviation San Marino continues to operate another Legacy 650, demonstrating the model’s ongoing reliability and performance in the business aviation sector.

With the retirement of the Legacy 600, Jaz Aviation continues to offer a diverse range of Global jets to the charter market. The remaining Global aircraft in their fleet include a Global 5000, two Global 5500s, and two Global 7500s, ensuring that the company can meet various client needs with different travel requirements. In addition to the Global jets, Jaz Aviation operates a total of 43 aircraft from leading manufacturers such as Bombardier Business Aircraft, Dassault Aviation, Gulfstream Aerospace, and Textron Aviation. This diverse fleet allows the company to provide tailored solutions for both short-haul and long-haul flights, catering to a wide spectrum of business and leisure travelers.

Recently, Jaz Aviation has continued to enhance its fleet with the addition of new aircraft types. In December 2024, the airline added a Gulfstream G280, enhancing its capabilities for mid-size jet operations. Additionally, in September and October of 2024, Jaz Aviation inducted a Challenger 3500 and a Falcon 2000LXS, respectively. These new aircraft reflect Jaz Aviation’s commitment to maintaining a modern and versatile fleet, ensuring high levels of performance, comfort, and safety for its passengers.

Following the fleet upgrade, Jaz Aviation now includes the newly inducted Legacy 650 and a recently added Hawker 800XP. This strategic move not only replaces an older model but also strengthens Jaz Aviation’s fleet with a more advanced and capable aircraft. The Legacy 650 offers superior range, speed, and cabin comfort compared to the Legacy 600, allowing Jaz Aviation to serve clients with greater efficiency and luxury. This upgrade is part of a broader strategy to maintain a competitive edge in the business aviation market by investing in modern, reliable aircraft.

Jaz Aviation’s fleet modernization efforts demonstrate the company’s dedication to providing top-tier business aviation services. By replacing older aircraft with newer models, Jaz Aviation ensures it remains at the forefront of the industry, offering enhanced travel experiences supported by a commitment to excellence and innovation. The integration of the Legacy 650 is expected to attract more high-profile clients seeking reliable and luxurious travel options, further solidifying Jaz Aviation’s reputation as a leading charter operator in Nigeria and beyond.
