Jet Air Retires Citation XLS+, Continues with Other Models

Jet Air (Galesburg) has retired its sole Citation XLS+ from its Part 135-certified fleet in October 2024, as reported by ch-aviation. The company will continue offering charter services with similar aircraft models, including the Citation XLS and Citation Excel, ensuring that its service offerings remain consistent despite the retirement of the XLS+.
The aircraft, registered as N497MN (msn 560-6263), was grounded for a month at Indianapolis International Airport between September 15 and October 15, 2024. After this period, the jet was flown to Chicago Executive Airport. Just three days later, it began operating under the ‘PWA’ code for Priester Aviation (PWA), based at Chicago Executive, with its first flight to Hilton Head. However, the aircraft is no longer listed as a Part 135-certified aircraft under Priester Aviation’s operation.
Originally configured to accommodate up to seven passengers, the Citation XLS+ joined Jet Air’s fleet in May 2022, initially registered as N560VM. The 5.8-year-old midsize business jet had been registered in the United States throughout its operational life with Jet Air.
Following this retirement, Jet Air’s fleet continues to consist exclusively of Cessna Aircraft Company jets, including four Citation Bravo aircraft, one Citation Excel, and two Citation XLS models. These aircraft maintain the company’s ability to provide a variety of private jet charter services tailored to the needs of their clientele.
Jet Air specializes in a broad range of aviation services, including private jet charters, aircraft management, medical air transport, acquisitions and sales, maintenance, and pilot training. The company also offers Fixed Base Operations (FBO) services at several locations, including Burlington, IA, Galesburg, Iowa City, and Macomb Municipal airports, ensuring comprehensive support for its aircraft and clients.
The decision to retire the Citation XLS+ reflects Jet Air’s ongoing efforts to optimize its fleet, allowing the company to focus on aircraft types that align with customer demand and operational efficiency. By continuing to offer charter services with its remaining Citation XLS and Excel aircraft, Jet Air maintains its competitive edge in the private aviation sector.
