Jet Aviation Malta Retires Last Global 5000 Aircraft

Jet Aviation Malta has retired its only Bombardier Global 5000 jet, marking the end of the aircraft’s tenure under the Maltese Air Operator Certificate (AOC). While this change removes the Global 5000 from Jet Aviation’s Malta-based fleet, the broader Jet Aviation group, a subsidiary of General Dynamics, continues to manage a global fleet of approximately 300 aircraft, including multiple Global 5000 jets.
Final Flight and Re-Registration of the Global 5000
The Global 5000, registered as 9H-DMC (msn 9586), completed its final flight under Maltese registration on October 15, 2024. Departing from Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, it arrived at London Biggin Hill Airport, where it has since been parked. The aircraft underwent re-registration on the Isle of Man as M-ARIA on October 29, 2024. Originally delivered to Global Jet Luxembourg in 2013, this 11.2-year-old jet has flown under various registrations, including a period of private operation in the U.S. and a previous Isle of Man registration between 2016 and 2018. It joined Jet Aviation’s Maltese fleet in December 2023 before its recent retirement and re-registration.
Jet Aviation Malta’s Current Fleet and Services
With the retirement of its only Global 5000, Jet Aviation Malta has paused operations of Bombardier Business Aircraft in its Maltese division. The current fleet in Malta now comprises four aircraft:
- One Boeing 737-700(BBJ)
- One Gulfstream GVII-G500
- One Gulfstream GVII-G600
- One Pilatus PC-12
The Malta-based fleet supports Jet Aviation’s robust aircraft management and charter services, catering to clients across Europe and beyond. Additionally, Jet Aviation Malta provides aircraft maintenance, staffing, and a range of charter services for discerning clients who prioritize flexibility and personalized service in private aviation.
Jet Aviation Group’s Global Operations and Services
Despite this change in its Maltese division, Jet Aviation remains a leader in the private aviation industry. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, Jet Aviation manages a global network of aviation services across Europe, the Middle East, the Americas, and Asia. The group provides aircraft sales, completions, maintenance, staffing solutions, and fixed base operator (FBO) services, alongside aircraft management and charter services. Jet Aviation’s fleet encompasses diverse aircraft types, including popular models from Bombardier, Gulfstream, and Boeing, allowing the company to meet a wide range of client needs.
Future Prospects for Jet Aviation Malta
The decision to retire the Global 5000 from its Maltese operations could signal a strategic shift in fleet composition as Jet Aviation aligns its Malta-based fleet to meet market demand. The inclusion of long-range Gulfstream and Boeing Business Jet models demonstrates Jet Aviation Malta’s focus on offering advanced, high-capacity aircraft for business travel. With the company’s ongoing commitment to global aviation services, Jet Aviation Malta may continue expanding its services in response to customer demand for premium aircraft and charter solutions.
Jet Aviation’s Role in Global Private Aviation
Jet Aviation’s operations, both in Malta and worldwide, emphasize the company’s commitment to premium service in the private aviation sector. Known for its wide range of services, Jet Aviation is trusted by individuals and corporations for its expertise in aircraft management, maintenance, and customer care. The retirement of the Global 5000 from the Maltese fleet highlights Jet Aviation’s adaptability in optimizing its offerings, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of private jet users.
With a well-rounded service portfolio and a reputation for excellence, Jet Aviation remains a prominent player in the private aviation industry, continually adapting its fleet and services to uphold its leadership in the field.
