JetBlue Celebrates 25 Years with ‘BlueUnity’ Livery

On February 11, 2025, JetBlue marked a significant milestone as it celebrated the 25th anniversary of operating its first commercial passenger flight. That inaugural flight, which connected New York’s JFK to Fort Lauderdale (FLL), not only set the stage for affordable, customer-focused air travel but also established the service standards that have defined JetBlue’s reputation over the past quarter century.

Even today, JetBlue continues to operate Flight #1 on the same route, a living testament to its enduring legacy and innovative spirit. From its modest beginnings with just 10 destinations out of JFK, the airline has grown to serve over 100 destinations across 31 countries, spanning the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean, Canada, and Europe. This impressive expansion reflects the company’s relentless drive to offer affordable fares paired with award-winning service.

In celebration of its 25-year journey, JetBlue orchestrated festivities across its network, which included giveaways, a birthday seat sale, and a special announcement that captured the hearts of its loyal customer base. Among the highlights was the unveiling of a new aircraft livery called “BlueUnity,” designed to honor the airline’s crewmembers—the very individuals who have been at the core of JetBlue’s success over the years.

The new livery, proudly displayed on an Airbus A321neo registered N970JB, features a striking sky-blue fuselage. What truly sets it apart, however, is the stylized depiction of JetBlue staff that adorns the rear fuselage and tail. This artwork, created by JetBlue crewmember Ray Mathew, is more than just an aesthetic update—it symbolizes the airline’s appreciation for the more than 23,000 dedicated employees who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure every flight is a success. Adding to its charm, the aircraft features a bold side-body tagline that reads “Honoring the fly-est crew in the biz,” a playful nod to the exceptional teamwork that keeps the airline soaring.

JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty expressed heartfelt gratitude during the celebration. “As we celebrate 25 groundbreaking years of JetBlue, I’m filled with gratitude and pride for the remarkable journey we’ve taken together,” Geraghty said. She further noted, “Our mission of bringing humanity back to air travel has set us apart, and our amazing crewmembers are redefining what it means to truly care for our customers and each other.” Geraghty emphasized that the new “BlueUnity” livery is a tribute to every team member, illustrating how each contributes to the airline’s unique culture and its continuous evolution.

Looking ahead, JetBlue isn’t resting on its laurels. The airline has ambitious plans for 2025, including launching seasonal international routes from Boston to Madrid and Edinburgh starting in May. These new routes will join existing services connecting Boston and other major cities to destinations such as Dublin, Amsterdam, London, and Paris. In addition, JetBlue is preparing to open its first-ever customer lounges at JFK’s Terminal 5 and Boston Logan’s Terminal C, exclusively for TrueBlue Mosaic loyalty members and premium cardholders.

Furthermore, as part of its ongoing fleet modernization, JetBlue will gradually phase out its fleet of 39 Embraer ERJ-190s in favor of newer, more efficient 140-seat Airbus A220-300s—a transition that reinforces its commitment to exceptional customer service and innovative travel solutions.

Celebrating a quarter-century of innovation and customer care, JetBlue continues to lead the industry by putting people first, ensuring every flight is not just a journey, but an experience to remember.
