JetBlue Expands Fleet with Six Additional Aircraft via Sale-and-Leaseback Deal with BOC Aviation

JetBlue Airways has further solidified its partnership with BOC Aviation by entering into a new sale-and-leaseback agreement. This latest deal encompasses three Airbus A220-300s and three A321-200neos through BOC Aviation (USA), indicating JetBlue’s strategic move to enhance its fleet while optimizing financial flexibility. Scheduled to close in 2024, this agreement marks the fourth finance arrangement between the two entities, cumulatively accounting for 33 aircraft comprising twelve A321neos and twenty-one A220-300s.

JetBlue, known for its extensive network from New York JFK, did not immediately respond to inquiries about the specific aircraft registrations and serial numbers involved in this transaction. The airline’s current operational fleet includes a diverse mix of twenty-six A220-300s, 130 A320-200s, sixty-three A321-200s, twenty-one A321-200NXs, ten A321-200NX(LR)s, and fifty-three E190s, with the majority owned by the airline itself.

BOC Aviation, a leading global aircraft lessor based in Singapore and listed in Hong Kong, boasts a significant portfolio of 426 owned aircraft. This collection features a wide range of models, from the A220 series to the Boeing 787, and includes 224 aircraft on order, demonstrating BOC Aviation’s commitment to providing modern and efficient aircraft to its airline partners.

This sale-and-leaseback agreement with JetBlue underscores the continued growth and evolution of both companies within the dynamic aviation industry. As JetBlue expands its fleet, it further cements its position as a key player in the American airline market, while BOC Aviation’s substantial order book and diverse portfolio highlight its role as a pivotal partner to airlines seeking to navigate the complexities of fleet management and capital expenditure.
