New York-based carrier JetBlue (JBLU) announced it has officially launched its inaugural flight between John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR), Canada.

JetBlue’s (JBLU) Airbus A320 aircraft, registered as N729JB, took off from JFK airport and touched down at Vancouver YVR airport on June 9, 2022, marking the airline’s first Canadian destination and becoming the first airline to offer direct services between New York and Vancouver.

“The addition of Vancouver to our route map marks an important milestone for JetBlue (JBLU) as our first Canadian destination,” Andrea Lusso, vice president of network planning at JetBlue (JBLU), said. “We look forward to not only introducing our outstanding service and competitive fares to Canadian customers but also providing access to all the cities we serve from New York.”

The airline will operate nonstop daily flights to Vancouver using the airline’s fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft.

“JetBlue’s (JBLU) new direct service to JFK means easier access from an important east coast market and is another significant step for Vancouver towards rebuilding our visitor economy. Nonstop air service from key North American cities makes our city an even more appealing destination for business events and for leisure travelers,” said Royce Chwin, president and CEO, Destination Vancouver.
