JetBlue plans network expansion, international routes

Acquiring Spirit Airlines’ network and fleet will allow JetBlue to expand into “the Midwest and many of the states we fly over,” as well as expand its schedule to Latin America, becoming “a national challenger,” said Joanna Geraghty, JetBlue’s president and chief operating officer. She said JetBlue, which has just launched its long awaited service between Boston and London, plans to serve other European cities and eventually gain a toehold in Africa.
