Jetstar Asia to Launch Direct Flights from Singapore to Wuxi, China
Jetstar Asia is planning to start flying from Singapore to Wuxi, a city near Shanghai, from December 28, 2023. The airline will be the first and only one to offer this direct service, which will operate twice a week initially and increase to four times a week from January 15, 2024. The flights will use Airbus A320-200 aircraft with 180 seats in economy class.
Wuxi is a historical and cultural city that is also an economic center and export hub. It is located on the banks of Taihu Lake, one of the largest freshwater lakes in China. Wuxi is known for its scenic attractions, such as the Lingshan Grand Buddha, the Plum Garden, and the Turtle Head Isle. It is also a popular destination for business travelers, as it hosts many high-tech industries, such as software, biotechnology, and solar energy.
Jetstar Asia said that the new route was driven by the increasing demand for travel to China from Singapore and vice versa, especially after China reopened its borders and relaxed its entry requirements for foreign visitors. The airline also said that the route would offer convenient connections to other destinations in Southeast Asia via its hub in Singapore Changi Airport.
