Jetstar Unveils New Staff Uniforms and Welcomes First Airbus A320neo
Jetstar Airways has made a significant leap in both style and fleet expansion with the unveiling of a brand-new staff uniform and the arrival of its first-ever Airbus A320neo aircraft. This dual announcement marks a major milestone for the low-cost carrier and its parent company, the Qantas Group, as they continue to grow their network and enhance customer service.
On November 28, 2024, Jetstar announced that its new Airbus A320neo aircraft had landed at Melbourne Airport (MEL), marking the carrier’s first aircraft of this type. The A320neo, registered VH-A5A, took off from the Airbus facility in Toulouse, France, on November 22, 2024, and made stops in Muscat and Kuala Lumpur before arriving in Australia on November 24, 2024.
The new aircraft is equipped with features designed to improve passenger comfort and efficiency. It boasts 188 modern ergonomic seats, extra-large overhead bins, in-seat USB power sockets, and seat-back device holders. The A320neo’s specifications align with Jetstar’s A321neo LR aircraft, reflecting the airline’s commitment to providing a comfortable and technologically advanced flying experience.
According to Australian Aviation, the newly arrived A320neo is the first of 13 aircraft on Jetstar’s order books, with deliveries expected to continue through 2029. The A320neo will begin flying passengers in December 2024, marking the start of Jetstar’s next-generation fleet operation.
Alongside the introduction of its new aircraft, Jetstar also revealed a refreshed look for its staff uniforms on November 28, 2024. The airline enlisted renowned Australian fashion designer Genevieve Smart to design the new uniforms, which will be worn by more than 6,000 of Jetstar’s frontline team members across Australia, New Zealand, and the Asia Pacific region.
The new color palette incorporates softer tones of orange and blue, inspired by the sight of a sunset viewed from an aircraft window. The updated uniforms feature a range of options designed for individual style and comfort, including blue and orange blazers, shirt dresses, tailored skirts, tapered trousers, polos, and overcoats.
Additionally, the new pilot uniforms shift from traditional black to a modern blue, featuring new epaulettes and the option of a neck scarf for added personalization. These new uniforms mark the first significant change since Jetstar launched 20 years ago, reflecting the airline’s evolution and growing commitment to customer service.
Jetstar Group CEO Stephanie Tully commented on the new developments, saying, “Our new look uniform adds to our investment in 14 new domestic and international routes this year, our first A320neo, new A321neo LR aircraft, and updated cabins for our international Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.” She also emphasized the airline’s mission to provide affordable travel options, stating, “Everything we do is aimed at helping customers fly to more places, more often for less.”
With the introduction of its new uniforms and A320neo aircraft, Jetstar is poised to enhance both its customer service and operational capabilities, further solidifying its position as a leading low-cost carrier in the region.
