Just turned 18? DiscoverEU is giving away free train tickets

Share

The EU’s DiscoverEU program is offering 35,000 free rail passes to 18-year-olds, allowing them to explore Europe and foster cultural connections. To apply, eligible individuals must be legal residents of an EU member state, an Overseas Country, or a third country associated with Erasmus.

The application process involves an eligibility check, a quiz on EU knowledge, and providing information about travel plans. The passes will be valid for travel between 15 June 2023 and 30 September 2024, and participants can choose to travel alone or with a group.

The passes include discounts and benefits, and recipients are expected to become DiscoverEU Ambassadors, sharing their travel experiences. Other free rail pass schemes include free train tickets between France and Germany for citizens under 27 and a free train travel scheme in Spain until December 2023.
