K2 Airways (KTA) has welcomed its inaugural Boeing 737-400BDSF freighter into Pakistan. The aircraft completed its pre-delivery maintenance at Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta before arriving.
Transitioning to freight-only operations, K2 Airways pivoted after a plan to lease two passenger-configured E190s fell through in 2023 due to supplier issues preventing the delivery of a second aircraft. Regulations mandating a minimum of two aircraft for passenger charter operations further influenced this decision.
CEO Tariq Raja expressed plans to acquire a second freighter later this year, solidify cargo operations, and explore possibilities for reintroducing passenger charter services. Raja aims for the 737-400BDSF to commence revenue flights in the coming weeks.
Currently, Air Falcon (FPK) stands as Pakistan’s sole active cargo-only operator, albeit without aircraft of its own, as per ch-aviation PRO airlines data. K2 Airways’ entry into the freight market is set to enhance logistical capabilities within the region, meeting evolving cargo transport demands.
