KLM introduces Premium Comfort class on its special Dreamliner

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines introduced its premium economy class on a long-haul flight between Amsterdam and New York.

The first flight featuring the new class, flight KL641 from Amsterdam to New York, took place on August 31, 2022.

The aircraft equipped with the new Premium Comfort was the airline’s Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner, registered PH-BKA, which features “KLM 100 years” livery.

“Today the first official flight featuring the new Premium Comfort Class took to the skies,” the airline announced on its social media on August 31, 2022. “Our new class caters to the requirements and wishes of business and leisure travellers alike, offering extra comfort and attention from our staff.”

KLM Premium Comfort Class is a premium economy offering standing between standard economy and business class. In the future, the airline plans to offer it on all its Boeing 777s and Boeing 787s flying on intercontinental flights.

Having started equipping its aircraft with the new cabin in the second half of 2022, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines expects to complete the transformation program by January 2024.

Premium Comfort cabin has between 21 and 28 seats, according to the airline. The new class offers passengers perks such as 17 cm more legroom than in a standard economy cabin, up to 20 cm recline of seats, movable leg and footrest, in-seat power and a personal 13-inch entertainment system.
