Korean Air commemorated 30 years of continuous service between South Korea and China by hosting a series of celebratory events at major Chinese airports. On December 22, 2024, the airline celebrated this significant milestone with passenger appreciation events at Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) and Shenyang Taoxian International Airport (SHE).

During the events, Korean Air gifted roundtrip Prestige Class tickets to South Korea to the 30th passenger on flights KE2202 from Beijing to Seoul’s Gimpo Airport (GMP) and KE832 from Shenyang to Seoul’s Incheon Airport (ICN). Additionally, all passengers received commemorative tote bags marking the 30th anniversary.

Further celebrations are set to take place on December 24, 2024, at Tianjin Binhai International Airport (TSN) and Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport (TAO) for flights KE806 from Tianjin to Seoul Incheon and KE846 from Qingdao to Seoul Incheon, respectively.

Korean Air’s journey in China began on December 22, 1994, with the launch of the route between Seoul Incheon Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport. Since then, the airline has expanded its network to include 27 routes connecting 21 Chinese cities.

Throughout its three decades of operations in China, Korean Air has not only connected cities but also provided humanitarian support during significant crises. This includes flood relief efforts in Hubei Province in 1998, emergency aid after the Sichuan earthquake in 2008, student educational trips to Jeju Island, and medical supply donations to Wuhan during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. These initiatives demonstrate Korean Air’s commitment to supporting the communities it serves beyond just transportation.
