Kuwait Airways Welcomes First Airbus A330-900neo
Kuwait Airways has proudly taken delivery of its inaugural Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, marking a significant milestone for the national carrier. The new aircraft, named “Boubyan” and registered as 9K-APJ, was officially handed over at Airbus’s final assembly plant in Toulouse, France, on December 9, 2024. This delivery is the first of seven Airbus A330-900neo jets that Kuwait Airways has ordered, signaling the airline’s commitment to expanding and modernizing its fleet.
The acceptance ceremony in Toulouse was followed by the aircraft’s arrival at Kuwait International Airport (KWI) after a seamless delivery flight from France. Kuwait Airways Chairman, Captain Abdulmohsen Salem Al-Fagaan, expressed his enthusiasm during the event, stating, “Kuwait Airways is pleased to receive its first Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, the first of seven aircraft of the same type to be received successively over the coming years, according to the company’s aircraft delivery plan.”
Al-Fagaan highlighted the strategic importance of the new Airbus A330-900neo in fulfilling Kuwait Airways’ broader objectives to expand its global route network. “The arrival of the Airbus A330-900neo supports the national carrier of the State of Kuwait in fulfilling key goals within its wider plan to expand its network of routes around the world. The new aircraft is also an addition to the Blue Bird’s fleet, which will serve the company’s operational processes,” he added.
The introduction of the A330-900neo aligns with Kuwait Airways’ ongoing efforts to enhance passenger experience and operational efficiency. Al-Fagaan emphasized the airline’s dedication to meeting customer requirements by providing the latest and best services. “The company is constantly following up on its customer’s requirements to provide the latest and best services. The addition of the Airbus A330-900neo to Kuwait Airways’ fleet brings the total number of aircraft to 32, all of which are relatively new with an average fleet age of nine years. The fleet comprises 17 Airbus A320s, four A330-800neos, and 10 Boeing 777-300ERs, alongside the newly acquired A330-900neo. As the newest member of the fleet, aircraft 9K-APJ will be deployed across Kuwait Airways’ extensive route network, complementing its existing widebody jets and enhancing the airline’s capacity to serve both regional and international destinations.
