Las Vegas Airport Director to Retire After Nearly Three Decades

Rosemary Vassiliadis, the longtime director of Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport, will retire on September 12, ending a distinguished 28-year career in aviation leadership with Clark County, Nevada. Vassiliadis, who became the airport’s top executive in 2013 after serving more than 15 years as deputy director, helped shape LAS into one of the busiest and most strategically important airports in the United States.
Her retirement was announced as LAS continues to set new records. In 2024, the airport welcomed 58.4 million passengers, a 1.4% year-over-year increase and a new annual high. Under her leadership, the airport weathered the COVID-19 pandemic and emerged stronger, playing a key role in hosting large-scale events, such as the 2025 Super Bowl, during which she was credited with ensuring smooth passenger flow despite unprecedented demand.
Vassiliadis’ contributions include overseeing the construction of the airport’s 14-gate Terminal 3, which opened in 2012, and leading a complex network that includes four general aviation airports. She has long emphasized the importance of seamless coordination among stakeholders—including airlines and concessionaires—to ensure top-tier service, particularly in a destination city where airport impressions often shape the travel experience.
Reflecting on her tenure, Vassiliadis said it was “an honor to manage the Clark County airport system,” highlighting the airport’s role as a gateway to Las Vegas and a key driver of southern Nevada’s economy. Clark County officials say they are now working through the process of identifying her successor.
