Latest Deliveries Bring Airbus Closer to Its Annual Target

In November 2023, Airbus delivered 64 aircraft, which is a 6% decrease compared to the same month in 2022. This brings the total deliveries for the year to 623 units, as confirmed by the aircraft manufacturer on Tuesday.

With just 97 deliveries needed in December to reach its full-year goal of 720 deliveries for 2023, Airbus appears to be within reach of its target. Historically, the company has averaged 93 December deliveries over the past three years, or 131 units in the three years before the pandemic, when supply chains were more stable.

Airbus released its monthly operational bulletin a day early, following a Reuters report on the delivery numbers. Analysts suggest that Airbus’ full-year delivery target is becoming increasingly attainable, especially after missing and eventually abandoning such a goal last year due to supply issues. However, CEO Guillaume Faury noted that supply chain challenges still persist.

Airbus reported 1,512 orders received so far this year, with a net total of 1,395 after accounting for cancellations. November’s net orders included new business announced at the Dubai Airshow and from SMBC Aviation Capital, along with the cancellation of an A230neo order from Kuwaiti lessor Alafaco, as announced on the Kuwait stock exchange last month.

Additionally, November’s data featured the reallocation of several aircraft orders among the airline group IAG and its subsidiaries, British Airways and Aer Lingus.
