Lindblad Expeditions & National Geographic Announce 2024 Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship for Global Educational Expeditions
Lindblad Expeditions and the National Geographic Society have proudly announced the selection of 35 educators for the 2024 Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship. These educators, hailing from 20 U.S. states and two Canadian provinces, will embark on global expeditions to some of the world’s most remote and environmentally significant locations including Antarctica, Patagonia, Alaska, the Arctic, and the Galápagos Islands.
The chosen fellows, representing a diverse range of grades and subjects—including a teacher of the Deaf—will gain firsthand field-based experiences that promise to deepen their understanding of global ecosystems and enhance their classroom teaching. The program aims to equip educators with the tools and knowledge to foster environmental stewardship and global awareness among their students.
Since its inception in 2006, the Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship has enriched the professional lives of 400 teachers, offering them once-in-a-lifetime experiences in extraordinary locations. The fellowship is named after Gilbert M. Grosvenor, chairman emeritus of the National Geographic Society, who has been a longstanding advocate for geographic education.
Amy Berquist, Vice President of Conservation, Education, and Sustainability at Lindblad Expeditions, expressed her enthusiasm about the new cohort. “Welcoming our 16th group of Grosvenor Teacher Fellows is not just an honor—it’s an investment in the future of education and conservation. These educators will return from their journeys empowered to inspire environmental stewardship and curiosity in the next generation,” she said.
The 2024 Grosvenor Teacher Fellows are set to embark on their journeys equipped with the skills to bring their unique experiences back to their communities, potentially influencing thousands of students. The program also underscores the commitment of Lindblad Expeditions and the National Geographic Society to enhancing educational content through direct, immersive learning experiences.
Applications for the 2025 Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship are now open, inviting more educators to apply for this transformative experience.
