LOT Orders Up to 84 Airbus A220s for Regional Fleet at Paris Air Show

LOT Polish Airlines has selected Airbus to supply its new regional fleet, placing an order for up to 84 A220 aircraft at the 2025 Paris Air Show. The agreement includes firm orders for 20 A220-100s and 20 A220-300s, with purchase options for an additional 44 aircraft. The deal marks the first time LOT has chosen Airbus as part of its fleet modernization strategy.
Airbus secured the deal over rival Embraer following a competitive bidding process. The new A220 fleet will be powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1500G engines, with deliveries scheduled between 2027 and 2031. LOT will first receive the larger A220-300 variant.
LOT CEO Michał Fijoł emphasized that the A220 family offers new growth and expansion opportunities, helping strengthen LOT’s position as a leading European carrier. The A220’s modern design, fuel efficiency, and passenger comfort will give the airline a competitive advantage across European routes.
The Airbus A220 aircraft will replace LOT’s current Embraer E1 fleet and eventually its E2 models. In LOT’s configuration, the A220 will feature Recaro seats manufactured in Poland, equipped with mobile device holders and 60W USB-C charging ports for added passenger convenience.
Airbus EVP Sales Benoît de Saint-Exupéry welcomed LOT to the Airbus family, highlighting the A220’s flexibility for both the 100-135 seat (A220-100) and 120-160 seat (A220-300) markets. As of May 2025, the A220 program has secured over 900 orders from more than 30 customers, with over 415 deliveries completed.
