LOT Polish Airlines Expands Fleet with First Embraer E195-E2
LOT Polish Airlines, based at Warsaw Chopin, celebrated a significant expansion in its fleet with the arrival of its first E195-E2 jet on July 31, 2024. The new aircraft journeyed from Recife and made a stop in Gran Canaria before reaching its new home in Warsaw. This aircraft is the initial unit among three E195-E2 jets expected from Azorra Aviation on a lease agreement, with the remaining two slated for delivery by the end of October.
The E195-E2, configured in a 136-seat single-class layout, marks a strategic enhancement to LOT’s operational capacity. According to Michał Fijoł, the CEO of LOT Polish Airlines, the E2 jets will primarily enhance service frequencies to various European destinations. The inaugural commercial flight for SP-LEA is scheduled for August 11, flying from Warsaw to Oslo Gardermoen.
This fleet expansion is part of LOT’s ambitious strategy unveiled in October 2023 for the period spanning 2024 to 2028, aiming to boost the fleet size to 110 aircraft. A further expansion to 135 aircraft by 2032 was later outlined in June 2024 by a government official, signaling a robust growth trajectory for the airline.
Current fleet details from the ch-aviation fleets module indicate that LOT operates a diverse assembly of aircraft, including twelve Boeing 737-8s (with ten additional units on order), six 737-800s, eight 787-8s, seven 787-9s, and an inactive DHC-8-Q400. The airline also maintains five Embraer E170s, fifteen E195s, eight E190s, and an A330-900N wet-leased from Air Belgium. This strategic fleet diversification supports LOT’s ongoing mission to enhance its service offerings and operational efficiency across its network.
