LOT Polish Airlines Expands Fleet with Two Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners

LOT Polish Airlines has expanded its fleet with the acquisition of two additional Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, according to Poland’s Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak. In a post on X on March 27, 2025, Klimczak highlighted that the new aircraft acquisition comes at a time when global challenges regarding the availability of wide-body aircraft are making expansion difficult. He noted that the new additions would allow LOT to enhance its long-haul flight offerings and introduce new routes planned through 2028.

Michał Fijoł, President of the Management Board of LOT Polish Airlines, confirmed that the two aircraft would be delivered next year. He explained to local media outlet Rynek Lotniczy that the deal, valued at hundreds of millions of zlotys, was signed for an operating lease, which will last for 12 years. The two Dreamliners will be leased from DP Aircraft, with a total cost of approximately $167.63 million. Currently, these aircraft are operated by Thai Airways.

The addition of the two Boeing 787-8s will increase LOT’s long-haul fleet, which now consists of 15 Dreamliner aircraft, including eight 787-8s and seven 787-9s. With a total of 83 aircraft in its fleet, LOT Polish Airlines serves 98 routes to 89 destinations across 50 countries. These destinations include major cities in the United States, Canada, China, Japan, and South Korea, solidifying the airline’s growing long-haul presence.

This move is part of LOT’s ongoing strategy to expand its international network and improve service offerings, especially on long-haul routes, by incorporating modern and fuel-efficient aircraft like the Boeing 787-8. The expanded fleet is expected to play a pivotal role in the airline’s development through 2028.
