Lufthansa Group Adds New Summer 2025 Routes
The Lufthansa Group, encompassing Lufthansa Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS), and Brussels Airlines, will enhance its summer 2025 schedule with new routes connecting key European hubs to appealing leisure and business destinations. These additions will broaden the airline group’s global network, which already spans more than 300 destinations in over 100 countries. With a combined total of approximately 12,000 weekly connections planned, travelers will benefit from even greater choice, convenience, and flexibility when planning their upcoming summer journeys.
Starting April 6, 2025, Lufthansa will operate a weekly flight from Frankfurt Airport (FRA) to Lamezia Terme International Airport (SUF) in Italy’s Calabria region. As of May 1, 2025, this service will increase to twice weekly, offering travelers the opportunity to explore Lamezia Terme’s coastal allure and culinary traditions with ease. In addition, Lufthansa will introduce a once-weekly route from Frankfurt to Figari-South Corsica Airport (FSC) beginning May 17, 2025. Figari, located in southern Corsica, is renowned for its rugged landscapes, pristine beaches, and vibrant local culture. These new routes from Lufthansa promise to draw more visitors to lesser-known European gems, appealing to those seeking unique travel experiences beyond the traditional tourist hotspots.
Meanwhile, SWISS will bolster connectivity from Zurich Airport (ZRH) to the stunning Adriatic coast by offering five weekly flights to Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) from April 17, 2025. Dubrovnik, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its medieval old town, azure waters, and captivating history, continues to gain popularity as an attractive European vacation spot. Adding frequent connections to the city ensures travelers can discover Croatia’s cultural depth, natural beauty, and distinctive cuisine with greater ease. This move also reflects SWISS’s commitment to reinforcing Zurich’s role as a key gateway for both European and intercontinental travel.
Brussels Airlines will also join in expanding the Lufthansa Group’s summer portfolio by introducing a once-weekly flight from Brussels Airport (BRU) to Madeira Airport (FNC), also known as Funchal Airport, starting April 5, 2025. Madeira is famed for its lush landscapes, subtropical climate, and year-round appeal. By connecting Brussels to this Atlantic island paradise, the airline is further enhancing tourism ties between Belgium and Portugal, appealing to travelers who value direct access to nature-driven adventures and cultural excursions. Travelers from Belgium and neighboring regions will benefit from convenient connections, avoiding layovers and ensuring a more efficient travel experience.
These new route additions reflect the Lufthansa Group’s ongoing strategic efforts to diversify and strengthen its European network. With hubs in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Belgium, the group aims to provide a balanced mix of business-oriented frequencies, popular city breaks, and unique leisure escapes. By investing in service expansion during the summer months, the group is positioning itself to meet escalating global travel demand. Travelers can look forward to more travel options, straightforward itineraries, and the renowned hospitality and service quality that Lufthansa, SWISS, and Brussels Airlines have long delivered. As summer approaches, anticipation builds among passengers eager to explore new destinations under the Lufthansa Group’s ever-growing global network.
