Lufthansa Group Expands Winter 2024 Network with New Flights
The Lufthansa Group is set to significantly expand its network reach for winter 2024, with a range of new routes and increased flight frequencies across its airlines. This strategic move is designed to enhance connectivity and provide passengers with more travel options during the busy winter season.
Starting on October 28, 2024, SWISS, one of the group’s premium carriers, will enhance its service between Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) and Geneva Airport (GVA) by offering daily flights. This new service aims to improve connectivity between two major business hubs, catering to both business and leisure travelers seeking convenient access between Germany and Switzerland.
In addition to SWISS’s expansion, Eurowings, another key subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, has significantly increased its service offerings from Berlin in recent months. Over the past six months, Eurowings has expanded its network to include a total of 30 destinations across Europe and the Gulf region. This expansion is part of Eurowings’ broader strategy to bolster its presence and provide travelers with a wider range of destinations.
From October 2024, Eurowings will introduce direct flights from Berlin to Dubai International Airport (DXB), enhancing connectivity between the German capital and one of the Gulf region’s major travel hubs. This new route is expected to cater to both business travelers and tourists seeking direct access to Dubai’s vibrant market.
Furthermore, Eurowings will increase its fleet stationed at Berlin Airport, expanding from six to seven aircraft. This additional capacity is expected to support the airline’s growing network and meet the increased demand for flights.
In a bid to further strengthen its winter schedule, Eurowings will also add Jeddah Airport (JED) in Saudi Arabia to its flight roster. Beginning this winter, Eurowings will operate three weekly flights from Berlin to Jeddah, offering passengers more options for travel to the Middle East and catering to both leisure and business travel needs.
The Lufthansa Group’s network expansion reflects its ongoing commitment to improving service and connectivity for its passengers. The group’s airlines, which include Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, Lufthansa, and SWISS, collectively operate around 27% of all flights at Berlin Airport. This substantial presence underscores the group’s significance in the Berlin aviation market and its role in facilitating international travel.
The strategic enhancements in the Lufthansa Group’s winter 2024 schedule are expected to provide travelers with increased flexibility and convenience. By expanding routes and increasing flight frequencies, the group aims to offer more travel choices and improve overall connectivity, reinforcing its position as a leading player in the global aviation industry.
With these developments, the Lufthansa Group continues to demonstrate its commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its passengers and maintaining a robust network of services across key international markets.
