Lufthansa Group Halts Flights to Israel and Iran Amid Regional Unrest

In response to the escalating security concerns in the Middle East, the Lufthansa Group, along with Air France, has announced the suspension of flights to Israel and Iran. This decision comes after the tragic events on Tuesday, where suspected explosive devices in Lebanon resulted in the deaths of at least nine people and injuries to nearly 3,000 others.

The suspension affects all connections to and from Tel Aviv and Tehran, and is set to last until at least Thursday. During this period, the airlines will also avoid flying through Israeli and Iranian airspace. The Lufthansa Group, which includes carriers such as Swiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings, has emphasized that it is closely monitoring the situation and will make further assessments in the coming days.

Passengers affected by these disruptions are being offered the opportunity to rebook their flights for free or receive full refunds, as the safety and well-being of passengers and crew are the group’s top priorities. Flights to Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, are also on hold until at least September 30 due to ongoing conflicts in the region.

Air France has similarly suspended its flights from Paris to Tel Aviv and Beirut, as reported by Le Parisien. The situation remains tense, with Hezbollah, the Lebanese Shiite militia, blaming Israel for the explosions and threatening further retaliation.
