Lufthansa Group Simplifies Bookings With Amadeus Nevio Platform

Lufthansa Group is moving to simplify the passenger booking experience by integrating Amadeus Nevio, a next-generation retailing and order management solution designed to replace today’s fragmented airline booking records with a single, unified Order ID. The initiative represents a major step toward modern airline retailing and aligns closely with the industry’s long-term transformation goals.
Today, airline bookings are typically split across multiple records, including passenger name records (PNRs), electronic tickets, and separate documents for ancillary services such as seat selection or baggage. Lufthansa Group’s adoption of Nevio aims to consolidate all these elements—flights, tickets, and add-ons—into one digital order that passengers can easily view, change, and manage throughout their journey.
The transition supports IATA’s One Order concept, which seeks to modernize airline distribution by treating travel purchases more like e-commerce transactions. Under One Order, the traditional distinction between tickets and ancillary documents disappears, replaced by a single order record similar to those used in online retail.
For customers, the shift promises a more intuitive and transparent experience. A single Order ID will allow travelers to manage itinerary changes, upgrades, and additional services without navigating multiple confirmation numbers or systems. Lufthansa Group says this will reduce friction, improve post-booking servicing, and make it easier for passengers to understand exactly what they have purchased.
From an operational perspective, the move is equally significant. By streamlining internal systems, Lufthansa Group expects to reduce complexity, improve data consistency, and enable faster innovation across digital channels. Unified orders also create opportunities for more personalized offers and dynamic pricing, as airlines gain a clearer, real-time view of each customer’s journey and preferences.
The Nevio platform is part of **Amadeus’ broader push to support airline retail transformation, including New Distribution Capability (NDC) and One Order standards. Amadeus has positioned Nevio as a bridge between legacy airline systems and modern digital retailing, allowing carriers to transition incrementally rather than through disruptive, large-scale system replacements.
Industry analysts see Lufthansa Group’s decision as a strong signal that One Order is moving closer to real-world adoption among major global carriers. While implementation will take time and require coordination across partners, the long-term benefits are viewed as substantial—both for passengers and for airline efficiency.
As Lufthansa Group advances its digital strategy, the Nevio integration underscores a broader shift across the airline industry: moving away from decades-old booking structures toward simpler, more customer-centric travel management built around a single, intelligent order.
