Lufthansa Integrates AI Booking Assistant Swifty with LINE App

Swifty, Lufthansa Innovation Hub’s advanced AI booking engine, has now been seamlessly integrated into Japan’s popular LINE messenger, revolutionizing how users book flights. This strategic collaboration allows customers to complete flight bookings directly through the communication platform in under two minutes, enhancing user experience with efficiency and ease.
“Swifty transcends the capabilities of traditional AI-powered chatbots, which typically assist only with trip planning,” stated the Lufthansa Innovation Hub (LIH) in a LinkedIn post. Unlike conventional platforms, Swifty manages the entire booking process from beginning to end, including payment, thereby streamlining the travel planning journey for users.
This integration enables LINE users to conveniently search and book flights using either text or voice messaging in Japanese. The service covers several major airlines including Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, and Swiss International Air Lines, providing a wide range of travel options directly within the LINE app.
LINE is more than just a messaging app; it includes various in-platform services such as payments, news, and the ability to host mini apps for various purchases and bookings. The addition of Swifty further expands LINE’s suite of services, offering a comprehensive and user-friendly platform for managing travel needs.
Introduced in 2023, Swifty is built on the sophisticated GPT-4 technology from OpenAI. Initially, LIH designed Swifty to allow travelers to input their flight and hotel preferences, select options, and seamlessly proceed to booking, culminating in the automatic generation of receipts and itineraries. This integration marks a significant enhancement in automated travel services, promising a smoother and more integrated user experience for global travelers.
