Lufthansa unveils new long-haul cabins with suites and Sleeper’s Row
Lufthansa’s (LHAB) (LHA) long-haul flights are getting a makeover, with new premium cabins to arrive in 2023, including suites in first and business class for the first time.
More than 100 new Lufthansa (LHAB) (LHA) aircraft, such as Boeing 787-9s, Airbus A350s and Boeing 777-9s, will sport the new range of cabin products, named Allegris, while aircraft already in service, such as the Boeing 747-8, will be retrofitted.
Along with the new suites up front, economy passengers will get a new Sleeper’s Row product.
The new interiors form part of plans by Lufthansa (LHAB) (LHA) to invest a total of €2.5 billion euros by 2025 in product and service to further improve the customer experience.
“We want to set new, unprecedented standards for our guests,” Lufthansa Group chief executive Carsten Spohr said in a statement on October 14, 2022. “The largest investment in premium products in our company’s history underpins our claim to continue to be the leading Western premium airline in the future.”
First class suites
The suites in first class offer nearly ceiling-high walls that can be closed for privacy. The almost one-meter-wide seat can be converted into a bed and each suite also includes a large wardrobe.
Further details will be made public at the start of 2023, Lufthansa (LHAB) (LHA) teased.
Business class
The new business class seats also offer higher walls and sliding doors for privacy. All offer direct aisle access and can be converted into a two-meter-long bed.
The new business class is already available on the latest additions to the Lufthansa (LHAB) (LHA) fleet, including the Boeing 787-9 and four Airbus A350s delivered in recent months. A further four Boeing 787-9s with this Business Class will be delivered to Lufthansa (LHAB) (LHA) in the coming weeks.
Economy Sleeper Row
There will be a new Allegris product for all travel classes and new booking options for economy passengers to get more space.
Lufthansa (LHAB) (LHA) said passengers will be able to book seats in the first rows, which have greater seat pitch, or book an empty seat next to them for more space.
In addition, the airline is building on its Sleeper’s Row concept introduced in August 2021, where passengers could book out an entire row of seats on long-distance flights.
In the Sleeper’s Row 2.0, which will be available on all new long-haul aircraft as part of the Allegris product, passengers will be able to fold up leg rests and use an additional mattress for rest and sleeping.
