Luxair, the Luxembourg-based flag carrier, has expanded its agreement with Embraer, confirming an order for a total of six E195-E2 aircraft. This follows the airline’s decision to exercise options from its initial October 2023 contract, announced by Embraer on December 17, 2024.

Details of the Agreement
Luxair’s October 2023 agreement included four firm orders, two options, and three purchase rights for the E195-E2, along with the flexibility to convert orders to the smaller E190-E2. With this latest order, Luxair has secured additional delivery slots, ensuring its fleet modernization continues through 2027. The three remaining purchase rights and conversion options to E190-E2 remain intact.

Enhancing Sustainability and Passenger Experience
Gilles Feith, CEO of Luxair, emphasized the strategic importance of the E195-E2 to the airline’s future:

“The E195-E2 is a critical investment in Luxair’s future, enabling us to balance growth with our commitment to a greener and quieter future. Starting in 2026, these aircraft will mark the beginning of a new era for Luxair, bringing quieter operations, superior fuel efficiency, and unmatched passenger comfort to our customers.”

The aircraft will feature a single-class configuration with 136 seats, utilizing Embraer’s signature two-by-two seating, designed to enhance passenger comfort.

Delivery Timeline
Luxair’s first E195-E2, from its initial 2023 order, is set to arrive in early 2026, while the two additional aircraft ordered in 2024 will be delivered in 2027, securing Luxair’s ability to meet growing regional demand with modern, efficient aircraft.

Supporting Fleet Expansion
Marie-Louise Philippe, Embraer’s SVP Sales and Marketing for Europe and Central Asia, praised Luxair’s confidence in the E2 family:

“The E2 is perfectly suited to Luxair’s operations and ambitions, closely complementing Luxair’s existing and on-order fleet, ensuring the maximum level of fleet and network optimization to the airline for the long-term.”

Luxair’s current fleet includes three Boeing 737-700s, three 737-800s, two 737 MAX 8s, and 10 De Havilland Q-400s. The airline is also awaiting delivery of two 737 MAX 10s, four 737 MAX 7s, and six 737 MAX 8s, further reinforcing its commitment to fleet modernization and network expansion.

A Vision for Sustainability
Luxair’s investment in the E195-E2 reflects its dedication to sustainability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. With quieter operations, superior fuel efficiency, and a focus on reducing noise emissions, the E195-E2 will play a pivotal role in advancing Luxair’s vision for a more environmentally friendly and customer-focused regional airline.
