Mahindra Airways Gets NSOP, Adds Challenger 3500 to Fleet

Mahindra Airways, based at Mumbai International Airport, has officially launched operations with the induction of its first aircraft, a Challenger 3500 (VT-MAY, msn 21016). The airline secured its Non-Scheduled Operator’s Permit (NSOP) #10/2024 from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on October 27, 2024, according to ch-aviation research.
The brand-new Challenger 3500 was ferried from Montréal Trudeau to Delhi International between August 20 and 23, with stops in Shannon, Kalamata, and Dubai World Central. Initially registered as C-GOXW under Bombardier Business Aircraft’s ‘BBA’ code, the aircraft was re-registered as VT-MAY on September 24, 2024. Its inaugural domestic operation was a roundtrip to Ahmedabad, and it has since been flying within India.
Mahindra Airways is a fully owned subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra, a multinational conglomerate with a diverse portfolio that includes automotive, agriculture, aerospace, IT, and renewable energy sectors. The addition of the Challenger 3500, known for its advanced cabin features and efficiency, underscores the company’s ambitions in the business aviation sector.
With its NSOP secured, Mahindra Airways aims to cater to India’s growing demand for premium charter services. The new Challenger 3500 enhances its capability to provide high-end, non-scheduled flights, aligning with Mahindra & Mahindra’s strategy to expand into aviation while leveraging its expertise across multiple industries. This milestone positions the company as a significant player in India’s evolving private aviation market.
